Polk Plaza and Polk Cottages are located about six blocks Southwest of the State Capital on a one square block of land that was cleared after a tornado ripped through the heart of the City in 1966. Polk Plaza is located at 1312 SW Polk Street. There is a distinct campus feel on this site, with winding sidewalks between the 99 unit Polk Plaza, the 75 unit Tyler Tower high rise, and the 10 brick Polk cottages. Tall trees, park benches and picnic tables create a very pleasant and leisure feel to the site. There is a community room on the first floor of Polk Plaza and gathering areas on each of the floors. Polk also has a billiards room.
Polk has a 6-computer training lab that is connected to the internet and the residents are responsible for the opening and the closing of the lab. Computer training is offered throughout the year for residents.
Polk Plaza also has an active Resident Council. The Polk Plaza Residents Association meets on the 3rd Tuesday of the month at 2:00 PM.
