How do I find a House or Apartment to Rent?
A person with a voucher is free to check with any potential landlord to determine if they will accept a Section 8 certificate. If a potential landlord wants to learn more refer him/her to Janet Powell 785-357-8842 , ext. 466. Often times a Landlord or Apartment Manager will call THA and tell staff that they have a unit to rent. THA keeps a list of those units, sorted by the number of bedrooms. Most of the landlords also call back and ask that the apartment be removed from the list when it gets rented, but this does not always happen. THA does not endorse or recommend any landlord. This information is provided for the convenience of our Section 8 voucher holders.
How do I find an Accessible Unit?
THA also maintains a list of Landlords and Apartment Managers who have indicated that they have Accessible Units. Click here for a list.
