Housing Opportunities Offered by Topeka Housing Authority

THA owns and rents a total of 662 efficiency, one, two, three, four, and five bedroom units, located in seven complexes.  Three complexes serve primarily elderly tenants and tenants with disabilities. One site is a Seniors Only site.  The other three complexes are home for families.

Rents range from $50 to $400+ depending on family income.  The Participant's portion of the rent is 30% of monthly adjusted income.   For example, the rent for a family with an income of $1,000 a month is about $300. The rent for a family with an income of $500 a month is about $150.

How do I apply?

1. You can print a copy of the Public Housing Application by clicking on the button to the left (PH Application).
2. Bring completed application along with the required documents listed below to the Topeka Housing Authority Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. There will be a short interview at that time.
3. Each adult in the household that is 18 or older must sign the application and attend the interview

YOU MUST BRING ALL THE ORIGINAL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS WITH YOU.
NO COPIES WILL BE ACCEPTED!

Picture ID for all adults
Social Security cards for all members of the family
Birth Certificates for all children
Proof of custody of children if applicant is not parent or custody is shared
Income Verification from all sources of income

You will need five (5) years of residential history for the application. Please make sure you know the addresses where you have lived, along with the names and phone numbers of your previous landlords for the last 5 years.

Interviews are conducted only on Mondays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
